Well..... this year has been a crazy ride! Here we are into August and I think I've been closed more than I've been open at this point. Maybe 50/50.
First, I closed for a few weeks in Feb so I could move into my new location. Yay! I was SUPER excited for the move and couldn't wait to have my Grand Opening in March. I had all sorts of fun plans for it. And then my husband's mom passed away on March 2nd, followed by one of his sisters on March 13th. The studio was only open for a few days, and then we found out on the 20th that we were potentially exposed to the Coronavirus at his sister's funeral. So our family went into isolation for two weeks. Or so we thought. In the middle of the being isolated, Governor Walz shut down all non-essential businesses, "for a few weeks." Ha ha. It wasn't until the end of May that I was allowed to reopen. YAY! June and the beginning of July were great! I was having fun taking photos in the new space, getting Senior photos booked and looking forward to a great season. Wrong again. Sunday evening, July 19th I started running a fever. I was really hoping that I was just overheated because I'd spent most of the day working outside. Nope. By Monday morning I knew better so went in to get tested. Found out the next day I was positive. Fun stuff. My family ended up also developing symptoms a few days later.
But the good news! We are all recovered and out of isolation now. :) We were fortunate that the symptoms basically amounted to a light cold. Other than a slight, dry cough, and the fever (right around 100 and 101 - and the side effects that come with that) we were just fine. We were only "sick" for a handful of days, and we're all past the "contagious" point, so we are no longer in isolation. Woohoo!
So, for the third time this year, the studio is now open for business. LOL I will be continuing the prevention and safety measures in the studio. Only booking one session per day. Cleaning after every session, including wiping down all hard surfaces, disinfecting soft surfaces (and in some cases such as blankets, having them laundered), among other steps. Masks and hand sanitizer (as well as sinks with soap and water) are available.
I hope everyone is staying healthy and enjoying what they can of summer!
